Awkwafina has been described as an American actor and performer who began her career with clever raps that tackled the issues of sexuality and race with a an edgy, comical perspective. Her career then grew to Hollywood. Nora Lum began her musical career as a musician on the trumpet. She was born in Forest Hills Queens, she was a child of Chinese immigrants and Korean immigrants. She also received classical and jazz training later when she began to explore hip-hop as a teenager. In college, she focused on her studies. She studied women's studies and journalism. In a short period during her time in Beijing, Mandarin language classes were also offered. It wasn't until she began focusing on music until she finished her studies. The year 2012 saw My Vag (as a retort to Mickey Avalon's My Dick) became an internet sensation and featured in her debut LP Yellow Ranger. The album also featured viral hit tracks, such as body-positive Queef and a wink-y home tour NYC Bitche$1. The track that was published specifically linked to the album Awkwafinas NYC, her 2015 travel guide. Her resume included both author and musician. The singer was seeking to further her career in acting. In addition to early shows like Girl Code and Tawk she was also in films like Neighbors 2 Storks as well as Bad Rap. In the year 2018, her breakout role was in Dude Ocean's 8 as well as Crazy Rich Asians. She released the EP, in Fina We Trust in June of the year.
